I've long been a huge fan of natural colored wools. Somehow, nature knows how to make a sheep look good! Now suddenly everyone is "going green," and a new appreciation of natural wools is blossoming.
In response, Rowan has added the Purelife line to its offering, and it's British Sheep Breeds yarns are certainly worthy of appreciation!
The 100% British wool, each color blended from individual breeds of sheep, is natural, undyed and retains its natural lanolin for both beautiful color and sheen. Spun in an aran weight, this yarn perfect for outerwear and hefty knits. Color 954, a natural grey heathered Suffolk wool, is my favorite for its lovely light heathery grey-brown color, and it's nice smooth feel. Softer than the darker wools in this line, it's a good choice for pullovers, jackets, coats or cardigans.
Check out the gorgeous, earthy designs in these yarns in the accompanying book The British Sheep Breeds Collection, listed separately in my store.
